Gigantes

Edgar Renteria after hitting a grandslam against Colorado to take the lead

I can only imagine what it would be like to be at that game.

"Ben and I were there - 42,571 rose as one... " - Ben's dad left me that comment on facebook

Going into September, the Giants are tied for the wild card lead w/ the Rockies. The playoffs are right within our reach. I'm so happy

Food tastes better
Air smells sweeter

Gas is cheaper

I'm pretty sure the reason is a directly correlated w/ the giants recent success

I've been taking a lot of shots this past week. Not Hen shots, patron shots, vodka shots, but nikon shots.

"Photography is a great creative outlet" - Dashy (http://simplydashy.blogspot.com/)

She's a really good photographer who I met on Saturday. Networking is great. We exchanged cards. Or more like, she gave us her card and Billy and I wrote down our emails for her.

Thursday: After not getting into Sabor and grubbing on some Iggy's, Brian, Billy, Joomee, and me went shooting. We were all pretty beat so we just went to the lake and shot for about an hour. There wasn't really much to shoot.

Epic shootout between Billy and Brian. In one corner we have Brian w/ his d80 and in the other corner we have Billy and his d60. Who will prevail? I'd say Brian w/ his slightly more advanced camera and not to mention his guns he calls arms.

Friday: Matt came back from his ROTC training. He texted me like 3 weeks before to keep that day open. I wait for him. And wait and wait and wait and no call. It's like 10 so I just forget it. Luisa and I meet up to go shoot. We headed to Starbucks to visit Billy really quick then tried going to Niles. We got lost and just ended back up at Starbucks.

Billy's super manly pose
It didn't come out as cool as I thought it would
Saturday: Myer asked me and Billy to help out w/ his sisters cotillion. I was kinda nervous because I'm still a noob. When we got there, we arrived to a bunch all this high tech camera stuff. It was pretty daunting and all I could think about was "I hope I don't screw this up". It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. However, it was tiring. Between Billy and myself we took about 1400 pictures. It was frustrating at times when all these teens went up to the booth and not know what poses they wanted or I had already taken these kids pictures 1234924 times before. When the cotillion ended we had a little time to mess around w/ the booth

After messing around w/ the photobooth for a while, we went up to the room to chill and eat.

The ring!

Billy and I went home at about 4:30? I was still kinda buzzed from all those shots! Nikon shots of course....

I came across this video and I thought it was pretty neat. It reminded me a little of the Here We Go Again video. It takes a while to get going but I think its worth the wait.

Speaking of creative people, I'm gonna go shooting w/ my friend Margaret sometime this week. I'm very excited to get some advice/tips and learn some new tricks from her. Her photos are really good. "Her photos are very urban outfitter-ish". - Billy

This is margaret.
And this is my favorite picture from her album. She's got skills!

I guess, all I really want is for someone to use one of my photo's as their desktop :)

I've recently learned that tasks may not seem as daunting if you just slow down, take a deep breath and just tackle one thing at a time.

You wouldn't be put in tough situations if you weren't strong enough to get through it.

Happy Birthday Joomee

Happy 21st Birthday Joomee. Love ya douche bag =)

I'm back home from Santa Barbara. Even with the weather being so gloomy, I had an exceptional time. I got to hang out w/ Jenny; there's never a dull moment w/ her. I also got to experience the SB beaches, beach cruisers, and world famous mexican food.

I'm glad I chose not to attend SB for the remainder of my college life. It's nice but not for me. It was a long looonngggg drive back. There wasn't much dialogue passed between Michelle and Lisa so I sorta kept to myself. That allowed a lot of down which in turn gave me time to think about a bunch of different things. It initially started off with some pretty random thoughts like:
  • "I wonder if I could walk home from Santa Barbara before Lisa and Michelle graduate?" I did some premature calculations, and I could definitely do it.
  • How annoying moving with my dad is gonna be
  • Socal radio stations suck
Then some more serious stuff like:
  • I should really try and hang out w/ a lot more people before I leave. I haven't really seen Stan, Ammo, or Mika lately. I have been kicking it w/ some pretty random people which is always fun
  • "First with the head, then with the heart" - I first saw that quote on my cousin's myspace. She's a pretty wise person and a pretty good writer, I might add. http://kristenwithak.xanga.com/
  • We'll see what happens.
Brian just called to hang out. I'm too tired though. I mean, I should listen to what I just wrote and hang out w/ him. I think I'm gonna just watch scrubs and knock out. I'll call him later.

Its been a tumultuous night, to say the least. I just spent the last 5 hours looking for my cousin who ran away. Fortunately, he came home and no physical harm was done to him.

I woke up today feeling good too. I just had a pretty productive last 2 days. Thursday night, I was off to Berkeley to chill with Maria. I'm trying to kick it w/ her as much as I can until she is off to Brazil for 6 months. So I get there around like 11-ish and I'm pretty beat so we just hang out at her place and just catch whatevers on tv. Friday morning comes and we start the day off with a hike. It was no ordinary hike though. We went off trail only to find a abandoned car, homeless men living in some hut thingy, and a whole lotta reptiles. It was pretty intense, definitely not made for hiking. We made it to the top of the hill and it felt really good up there. The view was great and the breeze was just right.

After taking that unorthodox trail to the top, we took a more conventional route down and headed to Cafe Matinna. This place is famous for their salads so I ordered the chef salad. If I knew how big the salads were, I wouldn't have ordered a sandwich too.

The bowl was as big as my head. I really liked the atmosphere of the place. There was this big tree in the middle of the restaurant and a bunch of cool artwork too. We were pretty stuffed so we just chilled for a while at the restaurant while eavesdropping on the people sitting next to us. This girl was talking to her mom about the experience of losing her virginity at such a young age. She was being really detailed, I might add. After about 15 minutes of listening to that, we just walked around all of Berkeley. I was more productive today than I was all of last week combined.

I really like the Berkeley area and could see myself living there one day. I like how Berkeley is sort of in its own bubble. We were walking back to her apartment to get some stuff and we see her neighbor just smoking weed out on the street. I'm like...you can do that in public? She responds by saying, that cops there care more about parking tickets than weed. If I were a smoker I would be ecstatic. Being there for the day made me kinda upset that I didn't get accepted. I like that you walk everywhere instead of driving. Everything in Newark is so spread apart that it would take forever to walk to your destination but only 5 minutes to drive. Having a car in Berkeley is actually a hassle.

After about 2 hours of packing, we BARTed home. On BART we had one of those really good conversations about relationships, school, and the future. When it came to relationships, the question of, what couples our age actually have a healthy relationship? By healthy, we meant no jealousy, genuine affection, and the ability to still maintain some sort of independence/individuality within that relationship. It was pretty hard to think of any. I got home and I was pretty exhausted so I just knocked out. Sorry I missed your little shindig ammo.

So, about 5 minutes after getting home from my grandmas, my aunt calls and tells us that my cousin Ivan ran away. We head on over to their house and just drive around the neighborhood for about 5 hours. The cops came to get a photo and I went to all of his friends houses and local parks. I had no luck.

Ivan's been struggling w/ school and his parents put a lot of pressure on him and I guess he just couldn't handle it. I feel really bad, cause his parents put so much emphasis on school and nothing else. He doesn't have much of a social life, but he's a really good kid. Last night gave me a different perspective on my parents. I'm very fortunate that they never smothered me. It allowed me to grow up, let me make my own mistakes, and learn from them. He eventually came back and just kinda kept to himself. I was just glad he was home. It was a long night. Driving around and looking for him wasn't my ideal choice of activity for a Saturday evening but everything ended on a high note.

Its like 5:30 and I'm beat. We have a family lunch in a little bit. Hopefully its not filled with awkward silences stemming from last night's events.

More Than A Game

I'm pretty juiced to see this.

I'm not a big LeBron guy. I'm more of a Wally Szczerbiak guy but this looks good too.

Vegas; the windy city pt 3

Saturday: After a great night, I wake up in some random hotel room with Billy, Myer, Jinjer, and her cousin not knowing how I got there. To me, it was very reminiscent of the hangover scene when they just woke up from their crazy night I immediately go to the bathroom to yack. I already knew this day was gonna be all bad. I yacked like every 5 minutes. I went back to sleep a little more and when I woke up Jinjer's cousin was gone I think? Then the rest of us recap the night and try and figure out how we got there. So we came to the conclusion that Mike(name?) got all the super drunk people a room cause we were too drunk to get back to our places? We check out around 1130ish and walk through planet hollywood. jinjer throws up in some trash can and a security guard comes and asks if she needs to be taken to a hospital lol. While we were walking, everyone kept staring. They knew we we were hungover haha. Nicests comes and picks us up and takes us back to our hotels. After her crazy driving, I knock out for the whole day.

The whole day, I was trying to put the pieces together of the previous night. And this is what I gathered from everyone:

  • Myer threw up in some casino
  • Presh got kicked out for stumbling
  • Jinjer passed out while walking?
  • We went to the diner, and some guy knocked over my food and gave me 5 bucks?
I'm missing other things but whatever.

The rest of the group went out to buffet and XS. Me and Jinjer were still too hungover to go out. I was glad I wasn't the only person out of the whole group who wasn't able to go out. Thank you best!

The rest of the night was pretty low key for me

Sunday: I gamble and lose like 175? I lost like 250 total within a total of an hour? We get our stuff together, go to the airport to conclude our stay in vegas. Or so I thought...

Since Billy and I are standby we only get on, if there are seats available. Unfortunately for us, there were none. We debate on spending the night at the airport or just find some cheap hotel. We choose the latter. We then proceed to the carousal to get our bags and get on a shuttle. After Billy gets his bags I notice this distinct smell of Hen. It turns out that the bottle of Hen that Presh asked billy to hold, broke in his bag and got all over his clothes haha. He was already pretty mad that we didn't get on the flight and this incident just made it worse. While he's cleaning out his bag, I talk to some lady there who helps me get a hotel room. We ended up getting a room at Tropicana for 35 bucks.

After about 2 hours - due to a stupid shuttle driver - we arrive at the Tropicana. We check in and when we get to the room, this is what we arrive to...

Mirrors on the ceiling! It was so...strange. We then headed to MGM and ate at the Rain Forrest Cafe. Billy tried starting up a conversation w/ this guy next to us. He was pretty wasted which made for an awkward conversation. We decided to call it a night.

Monday: We get to the airport crossing our fingers that we get on a plane. I was not about to stay in Vegas for another day so we decided that if we didn't get on, we would rent a car and just drive back. There was one seat available and Billy got it. I ended up staying in Vegas hoping that the next flight will be free. So I was stuck at the airport for 5 hours with no guarantee of getting home that night. This other chick who I remembered from Sunday didn't get on either and we ended up talking and keeping each other company. We played 6 degrees of separation for the longest time. There was a high chance that either of us wouldn't get a flight so she asked me what I was gonna do. I was prob gonna spend the night so I wouldn't have to pay for a shuttle and hotel. She suggested that I could stay w/ her friends aunt who had a suite at the paris. I thought it was pretty weird that she asked me seeing as she just met me like an hour ago but I figure why not? It would have been kinda cool to hang out w/ a stranger for a night. But we did get a flight; luckily I got the last seat. I was on my way back home from the best weekend ever.

I got home only to find my bags were in long beach -___-

Vegas; the windy city pt 2

Friday was the best day. Also, the night I remember the least.

We started the day off by getting some fat tuesdays. Prior to the trip, I told myself i would get one of those tall drinks and I did. I failed to realize those drinks are never ending. You drink it for like an hour and you think you're done but you've really drank very little to none.
Later that night we went to Prive.
Pre-gaming/getting ready/waiting outside the club:
JayR, phresh, me
Costco Hen
Me and Ash
JayR, me, Presh, Jomar
Me and Presh
The guys and the birthday girl
Stupid Captain Morgan
Where are my eyes?!

Where the not remembering begins:

That whole club was a blur to me. All I really remember was buying JC, Jordan, and Myer a shot and the only one who took it was Myer. So I drank JC and Jordan's shots. It was all bad after that

So apparently after the club we went to the diner to eat and I ordered a tuna sandwich? And apparently a man knocked it out of my hand and paid me 5 dollars?
Sorry for yacking so loud AND while you were eating

Me, Myer, Billy, and Jinjer got the most F'd up that night. We were knocked out like flys.
The morning after was one of the worst days ever but it was well worth it

500 days of summer

"How do you feel about shitting on transformers for best movie of the summer?" - Probably what Zooey Deschenel is telling Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

This movie was so good that I had to blog about it even in the midst of my Vegas blog. So yesterday Presh and I went to Santana Row to watch 500 days of summer and it was awesome. I'm pretty much in love w/ Zooey now. That whole Ikea scene was classic!

Movie was great and date was equally good =)
