Gung Hay Fat Choy

Happy Chinese New Years to my fellow chinkers! Unfortunately, this Chinese New Years happens to fall on the same day as the first day of Spring semester. Parking was ridiculous today. I laughed when I saw people buying daily parking permits. Stupid Ohlone rookies. Shortly after I was saddened at the fact that I knew they wouldn't give out parking tickets for about the first 2 weeks because that would mean that I'm not a rookie here anymore. I am a...veteren who has been here for way too long! You know you've been at Ohlone for too long when you know exactly where everything is and when you know at least 4-5 people in each class w/o even planning it. Anyways, I only had one class today. It was the typical useless first day where they go over the syllabus blah blah. After class, I went to Panera with Joomee, Ronnie, and Bernie. So I guess Bernie and I might car pool together now? I'm glad I can do my part in perserving this wonderful planet we live on. After we grabbed a bite to eat, Bernie dropped us off back at Ohlone and then I chilled in Hyman Hall for a bit and then went home. *Sigh. I will repeat this redundent process tomorrow, the next day after, and the day after that for 3 months -__-

And to think I was looking forward to this semester...

quit playing games with my heart

2 buzzer beaters in a row?! First Jeff Green then Stupid Lebron James. I suppose last nights game was bittersweet with the return of the freshly tatted up Monta Ellis. It's so frustrating watching them play so well and lose it at the end. Now I'm no expert or anything but I see glimpse of greatness in this team and a lot of potential but who wants to wait for next year or the year after? I think I speak for all warriors fans when I say we want to win now. I guess that is too much to ask for? Anyways, I want everyone to meet the love of my life.

Lydia Paek of Boxcuttuhz. I looked her up on youtube and it turns out she is a singer too. woo sexyyyyy. Unfortunately, her and her crew got eliminated this past week. If only our paths can cross...

"Life is one beauty contest after the other"

That was a quote from Little Miss Sunshine which I had just finished watching with Matt. (He kinda cried btw) I just thought I'd throw that out there. This movie gets better everytime I watch it.

So today I woke up and I felt a little bit better. The fever was gone and all that is left now is the sore throat and coughing. I'm slowly regaining my health. I lost like 3 lbs though. Getting sick = great diet

Anyways, since I've been hampered with this sickness I only left the house once in the last 3 days. I've watched a crapload of tv. I finally saw mean girls in its entirety. Before she was caught up drugs she was quite the eye candy but post drugs and blonde hair is not good. Anyways I didn't really want to see anyone just so I can fully rest and get healthy for the upcoming week but Maria calls me and wanted to see me before she goes back to school. The last time I saw her was about 4-5 weeks ago when she left to India to see family. It was really great to see her and just catch up on life.

sick

I got home Thursday morning at about 1 and haven't left the house since -___-

My immune system decided to be shitty and not protect me for a little bit. I have a fever, sore throat and a runny nose. I haven't appreciated my health this much in so long. I've cannot be more bored! My tv has been on for too long. I've been watching Kate & Jon plus 8 (thanks joomee for introducing it to me) Yes, I know its not the manliest show but but it is entertaining.

Hopefully I'll recover by Monday and I can interact with society once again.

*clank clank clank...

Thats the sound of the basketball bouncing off the rim. I shot to the right of the rim, left of the rim, and bottom of the rim. Every part of the basket, except in it. I could of built a house w/ all those bricks tonight. It was a rough night at Logan. I haven't played in a while so I could just say I was rusty and needed to get my timing down but it was pretttttttty embarrasing. It sucks to have your teammates thinking your skills have diminished. Oh well. In the grand scheme of things it was only one night and a few pick up games.

So yesterday I decided to be active and bike to the gym. It took about 30-35 minutes. It went by pretty fast as I was listening to the Bill Simmons podcast. Anyways, as I was biking home after my work out I got near newark video and all of a sudden my gears just get stuck. I tried pedaling for a bit but it was just so difficult on my legs. It was like pedaling in a mile of mud or something similar to that. Long story short, I walked my bike home from central. My ipod died shortly after I got onto Cherry and all the noise i could hear were from the oncoming cars. It was a long and lonely walk. I guess that is all for now. I have 3 followers of this blog. I hope they enjoyed it. Thank you for subscribing to me. It brings me one step closer to a bloggie =)

A Sunday well-spent brings a week of content

Hopefully the upcoming week will be just as good as the previous one.

Monday- My D60 came in. It was a late Christmas gift from my parents. Its a really nice camera. I'm pretty noob at it though. All the functions and settings are so foreign to me. I will master all of them soon though. My ultimate goal is one day, have someone find one of my pictures on google and uses it as his/her desktop. This is to have succeeded.

Tuesday - I went apartment hunting in Davis with Derek and Ben. Apartment hunting is quite the hassle. We found some apartments we liked but the majority of the places we looked at didn't have any models ready so that was kind of frustrating. One of the places we looked at didn't have a model, but did have someones actual apartment which we thought was sort of weird. We looked around while they were their. One of the residents didn't even know we were in their apartment. The one place we did like turned out to be the shittiest out of all of 'em. But the employee of the apartments would get an A+. She was quite the looker. Overall, I guess it was a successful trip. I finally feel like I'm moving forward in life and I'm quite anxious to start school there in the fall.

Wednesday - I went to the Warriors/Lakers game with my brother, cousin, and her friends. It was fun. I never really hang out with my cousins. I think its a Chinese thing? I would never just call up a cousin to hang out or consider them like friends? I dunno, my Chinese friend Julia said the same thing. Incidentally, the cousin I did hang out with is half white. Anyways, to no ones surprise, the Warriors lost. But, I know everyone saw todays game! Woo Jamal you put those guns back in your holster buddy! Back to Wednesday, it was good bonding time. After the game, there were about 5 girls who were yelling and praising the Warriors while these other girls were doing the same for the Lakers. They got into it and started fighting. It was pretty stupid but it showed how loyal they were to their teams! lol. The Laker girls came out on top again. Hopefully there will be more of this in the near future. The bonding...not the fighting.
Thursday - Thursday was a day spent with Jinjer. We had a late lunch at like 3? After we ate we watched Slumdog Millionaire. 3 thumbs up! Thats right, 3 thumbs up! Not 2. 3! It was tough trying to find someone watch it with me. She was kinda iffy when I was describing it to her but after watching it she thanked me. Everyone needs to go see that movie!

Friday - Joomee and I got yogurt and then went to go visit Deja at her new home. It was very cozy. I got to play with Sierra. We bonded. She called me "Andro" Close enough, I suppose. The whole time I was playing with her, I was thinking about how hard it must be for Deja and Sean. I really tip my cap to them for raising her, working, and trying to better their lives at such a young age. Sierra's lucky to have such great parents. She can sure build some mean towers with those building blocks. She even painted my nails which led me to believe that she is wise beyond her years.

Saturday - It was my grandmas 70th birthday. We all usually go out to dinner but we are in the thicke of playoff seasons and all the men had to watch. We're probably gonna go out to dinner next week. Later that night, I went to BJ's with Matt and Ammo. In today's society, Matt would be what they call a "cock blocker". Matt went to the hostess to get a table for us and I knew the wait would be hella long. After he gets the buzzer thing that indicates when we're ready to be seated I ask him how long the wait would be cause I really didn't want to wait for hella days. He responds with "don't worry about it." I'm like whatever about it. He heads to the bathroom and hands me the buzzer. I go to the hostess and ask how long the wait was and we start chopping it up. This hostess is like the cutest girl you'll ever see. Anyways, we start talking and exchanging pleasentries and here comes Matt aka the moment killer. He starts talking to me and I'm like "dude shut up" He starts to ask her if they're hiring even though he doesnt live here anymore and just like ruining it for me! Its rare that I just try and form any type of relationship out of thin air and the one time I do try, Matt ruins it for me. Sorry, I didn't explain thoroughly how he did the "cockblocking". I'm trying to finish this so I can get on that Call of Duty! lol. But long story short, Matt is a cock blocker. lol. At first I was mad but its whatever. I'm not tripping over it. She was hella cute though! haha

Its time for me to go annailate the enemy. Goodnight everyone.

Coffee cake

Yesterday, I get a phone call from my long time friend Ben Iremonger. Here's a photo of him for those of you who don't know who he is.
*Not the most clean cut guy, apparently, but cool nonetheless. Great picture huh? lol

Anyways, he calls me up and asks me if I wanted to get breakfast with him, Jonathan Sees, Kelsey, and Kelly at Hobee's today. Hobee's is sort of like a Denny's but better. They have the best coffee cake in the world. Just the other day, Ben biked from his house in Newark to Palo Alto just for some of it. For those of you who don't know him, he does look a bit strange but he is the epitome of cool. He was my best friend from 6th-8th grade. We don't talk as much as we did but when we do talk we always pick up were we left off. Remember in my previous blog when I said friends have come and gone? He was one of the constants. As for the rest of the recap, he comes to pick me up at 9:30 with Jonathan and we get to Hobee's at about 10-10:15ish, get seated, and we wait for Kelly and Kelsey to get there. Jonathan calls them and ask them where they're at and they say we're here. We don't see them and then they utter the words "The one in Pruneyard right?" Pruneyard is located in Campbell. Apparently, there was some sort of mix up due to Jonathans ability or lack there of to read directions. So me, Sees, and Ben are like "dang what do we do? We're already seated and the guy just handed us our waters. So we all simultaneously got up and ran out. I'm sure the people eating thought we had just dine and dashed. It was fun, but I felt bad for our waiter. We head on over to Hobee's in Campbell to meet up with them. We sit, eat, and have nice conversation. I typically don't hang out with those four people so at times they had their moments of reminiscing so I would just be sitting there laughing lol. It was fun though. After breakfast we head our separate ways. Kelsey goes back to SB, Kelly goes to work and we head back to good ol' Newark.

We had some time to kill and for some reason we went to visual image to watch one of Jonathans friends get a hair cut. Jon just walked in and asked if we could sit and watch our friend get her hair cut. The lady looked at us kind of weird but said it was no problem at all. We sit and Ben and I start reminiscing on our elementary days. We rehatched a lot of old memories such as:

-Scott Holcom calling Mrs Bustlin, Mrs BUTTlin on the last day of school and getting in trouble for it. He ended up writing an apology to her
-playing hide and seek with Scott but never looking for him
-everyone disliking cafeteria food and handing it over to Ben and myself
-Me stepping in dog crap and hoping no one in class would notice

Its always nice to catch up with old friends. I admit, I do take my friends for granted sometimes. Its days like these that remind you why you were friends in the first place. In the words of Ice cube "It was a good day"

Goodbye 2008...

Hello 2009.

Ahhh first blog of 2009. Hopefully the first of many filled with memorable stories and experiences. Lets proceed...

I spent new years eve the same way I spend every new years eve - with family. Its tradition for moms side of my family to go to my aunts house in Fremont every year. I see them every Saturday so its not really anything super big. We always do the same thing; watch the top 100 music videos of the year on BET and discuss why those songs belong or don't belong on that list. Its a lot more fun then its sounds lol.

2008 wasn't the greatest year. I've made some new friends and lost some old, I've had some great experiences which have been accompanied by some not so great ones, but in the end I came out ok. If I were to compare this year in reference to sports, I would say that this was a rebuilding year for me. Let me try and explain. (Sorry, I'm a big sports guy and I feel that its easier for me to explain things via sports) In a rebuilding year a sports team isn't expected to do succeed at all. They are suppose to go through the hardships, inconsistencies, and sort of learn on the go. The main goal of a rebuilding year is to build for the future. So my 2008 was preparing me for 2009. I feel that in 2008 I was at a halt, fork in the road, stand still, or whatever you want to call it and I feel that in 2009 I can make great strides and move forward in my social and educational life. I'm finally going to be transferring out of Ohlone and moving on to Davis or *crosses fingers UCLA which will be a big step for me as I can finally be on my own and continue to learn on the go. So 2008 was a segway or transition year into 2009.

As for my resolutions...

I plan to not worry about things as much. I tend to overthink a lot of things which hasnt gotten me anywhere. I have the tendency to sometimes force the issue so I'll try and just take each thing as it comes. My other resolution is to spend more time with family. As the years have gone by I've come to appreciate them more and more. I often elect to hang out with my friends over family at times and this year I'll try and find more of a balance in between. As a matter of fact, I might be going to Italy with my cousin in the summer pending furthur circumstances. Hopefully I follow through on all these and it won't be just another "rebuilding year." But something tells me this will be a good year.
