Coffee cake

Yesterday, I get a phone call from my long time friend Ben Iremonger. Here's a photo of him for those of you who don't know who he is.
*Not the most clean cut guy, apparently, but cool nonetheless. Great picture huh? lol

Anyways, he calls me up and asks me if I wanted to get breakfast with him, Jonathan Sees, Kelsey, and Kelly at Hobee's today. Hobee's is sort of like a Denny's but better. They have the best coffee cake in the world. Just the other day, Ben biked from his house in Newark to Palo Alto just for some of it. For those of you who don't know him, he does look a bit strange but he is the epitome of cool. He was my best friend from 6th-8th grade. We don't talk as much as we did but when we do talk we always pick up were we left off. Remember in my previous blog when I said friends have come and gone? He was one of the constants. As for the rest of the recap, he comes to pick me up at 9:30 with Jonathan and we get to Hobee's at about 10-10:15ish, get seated, and we wait for Kelly and Kelsey to get there. Jonathan calls them and ask them where they're at and they say we're here. We don't see them and then they utter the words "The one in Pruneyard right?" Pruneyard is located in Campbell. Apparently, there was some sort of mix up due to Jonathans ability or lack there of to read directions. So me, Sees, and Ben are like "dang what do we do? We're already seated and the guy just handed us our waters. So we all simultaneously got up and ran out. I'm sure the people eating thought we had just dine and dashed. It was fun, but I felt bad for our waiter. We head on over to Hobee's in Campbell to meet up with them. We sit, eat, and have nice conversation. I typically don't hang out with those four people so at times they had their moments of reminiscing so I would just be sitting there laughing lol. It was fun though. After breakfast we head our separate ways. Kelsey goes back to SB, Kelly goes to work and we head back to good ol' Newark.

We had some time to kill and for some reason we went to visual image to watch one of Jonathans friends get a hair cut. Jon just walked in and asked if we could sit and watch our friend get her hair cut. The lady looked at us kind of weird but said it was no problem at all. We sit and Ben and I start reminiscing on our elementary days. We rehatched a lot of old memories such as:

-Scott Holcom calling Mrs Bustlin, Mrs BUTTlin on the last day of school and getting in trouble for it. He ended up writing an apology to her
-playing hide and seek with Scott but never looking for him
-everyone disliking cafeteria food and handing it over to Ben and myself
-Me stepping in dog crap and hoping no one in class would notice

Its always nice to catch up with old friends. I admit, I do take my friends for granted sometimes. Its days like these that remind you why you were friends in the first place. In the words of Ice cube "It was a good day"
