Today I woke up at 6:45, put on my slacks, buttoned up my dress shirt, tied my tie, and proceeded to woodland for my 8:30 court date. Last quarter my friends and I got a ticket for crossing the train tracks. THE TRAIN TRACKS!!
I get to court and sit next to this really buff mexican guy and we have a quick conversation that goes something like this:
Me: what are you in for?
Him: weapon charges. I had a concealed weapon in my car and no license for it
Me: oh man, thats crazy.
Him: yeah bro, what bout you? why are you here?
Me: *in my most manliest voice, crossing railroad tracks
Him: oh man, I don't wanna mess with you
Yeahhhh, this guy was pretty funny but I definitely did not belong in court with these miscreants. Anyways I get called up to the judge to have her dubb me the "ring leader" since I lived closest to the train tracks. Consequently I was charged with a misdemeanor. Luckily due to my clean record I just need to take a class and it'll be eliminated from the record. Even more luckily, I get to pay 160 dollars to attend that class adding to the 200 dollars for the actual ticket! (I don't think that was a proper sentence but whatever) I will be taking a seven hour class at the center for intervention with a bunch of people who are convicted of weapon or drug charges. AWESOME! God, I've paid about 800 dollars in fines this year. It was such a shitty way to start my tuesday.
I made it back in time for class. Court only lasted 3 hours! After class I headed to the library to do some major studying I had for tomorrow. I get a text from her asking if I wanted to go on a mini adventure. I was studying for a whole 12 minutes before she texted so of course I say yes. I clearly have my priorities straight. I meet up with her and we go get some sandwiches and take the bus to this park downtown were we have a nice picnic. It was a nice little pick-me-up.
Not too shabby of a day...
